The school has requested each student is checked every night for lice for the next two weeks!
Students may not feel any symptoms of itchiness up to six weeks. Lice can come back, so even if your child has completed a treatment, please continue to check your child's scalp.

Symptoms
-Itching
-Tickling
-Sores from Scratching
-Red Bumps
-Nits (lice eggs)
How to Check
-Wet hair to see the lice better
-Use a fine tooth comb to part the hair to the scalp
-Use a flashlight to shine into the scalp
-Lice will look like small brown or grey insects the size of sesame seeds
-Nits (eggs) are white and do not move off of hair easily
Prevention
-Tell students to keep their coats and bags separate during school. Basa encourages our students to keep their belongings off the floor, to use the hallway hooks, and to keep a space between coats.
-Students should keep their hair up in braids or buns, if possible.
-Students should not share brushes, hair ties, combs, hats, hoodie jackets etc. Lice is very contagious!
If Lice is Found
-Treat your students head with an anti-lice shampoo, the Hair Fairies, or suffocation methods such as Cetaphil Cleanser.
-Keep your child from school until they are fully treated. Please contact the school office with questions.
-Lice cannot live off the human body after 24 hours.
-Vacuum rooms
-Wash all sheets, blankets, pillow cases and bedding in hot water at least 103 degrees.
-Items that cannot be washed should be put in sealed plastic bags for two weeks.
Thank you for helping keep all of our students healthy!
