Morning Chess, Wednesdays 7:30-8:30am

Afternoon Chess, Mondays, 4:00-5:00pm

1st through 8th Grade.

All levels welcome!

All Chess-Ed classes are led by US Chess Federation certified teachers.

CHESS-ED students learn interpersonal skills such as sportsmanship, patience and positive attitudes as well as fundamentals like math and geometry that carry over to the classroom.

Chess-Ed emphasizes skill-building and positive reinforcement rather than memorization. Students learn to focus, think creatively, and consider all their options before they make a choice. Reasoning, problem solving, and analysis of steps and missteps are all part of the process that leads to confidence and good judgment. Students learn skills that last a life time: focus, patience, and problem solving!

Taekwondo Class, Tuesdays, 4:00-5:00pm

Students develop self-confidence, character, leadership, and fitness. Students learn Taekwondo in an environment of mutual support, respect, and community. Kids have fun while developing focus, strength, character, and respect for self and others.

At every level, students work towards building strength for the body, courage for the heart, and wisdom for the mind.

Connelly's Academy School Taekwondo program provides our young people with long-term, professional martial art instruction in a safe, non-competitive environment.

Cooking Class, Wednesdays, 4:00-5:00pm

Kinder- 5th Grade

Join us for After School Cooking Class right here in Ravenswood! We'll be cooking up fun and healthy recipes! Students will release their inner chef as they explore exciting tastes, master culinary skills, and nourish their bodies and minds. Classes are led by Sticky Fingers, which uses seasonal and local produce as much as possible! Sticky Fingers Cooking is 100% nut free. They CAN and WILL accommodate ANY and ALL food allergies!

Lego Robotics, Fridays, 4:00-5:00pm

Kinder-5th Grade

Delve into the history and mechanics of favorite amusement park rides in this imaginative unit. Students will construct a Carousel Swing, Tilt a Whirl, Loop de Loop ride, Swing boat ride, and Merry Go Round. Lessons incorporate principles of physics, described in a way children can understand, such as “G-force” inertia and momentum, as well as math concepts such as “there are 360 degrees in a circle”. These engaging lessons will give students an understanding of the physical forces they experience every day. Don’t miss out, register today!

Spanish Class Kinder-3rd, Fridays, 4:00-5:00pm

Spanish Class 4th-5th, Fridays, 5:00-6:00pm

Classes are run by Lango Chicago. Lango's creative content builds confidence and motivates students to be lifelong learners. Classes give students multiple opportunities to use the language in each class. They use visual cues, body movements, and experiences so students can form a link between language and ideas without relying on their native language.

Students participate in cultural activities, such as traditional games, music, and art projects. Each class contains activities that require problem solving, creativity, and cooperation.
